My Fifty-Eighth Blog Post Ever...The Love Dare: Day 18

Wowzers...the flu can really knock a girl off of her feet! Thankfully my husband did his own mini love dare on me while I took an unexpected break from The Love Dare on him! But now, I'm back on track!

Day 18: Prepare a special dinner at home just for the two of you. The dinner can be as nice as you prefer. Focus this time on getting to know your spouse better, perhaps in areas you've rarely talked about. Determine to make it an enjoyable evening for you and your mate.

I have a friend who makes a special dinner for her spouse every week. She makes a nice, grown up meal, puts the kiddos down early, and has a special time carved out just for her man and herself to share. She inspires me.

Even so, I didn't do the dinner thing for Day 18. I'm learning to tweak the dares for what works best for my man. So, instead I made, er..um...asked, Matt to go for a jog with me. We talked the whole time. Actually, he talked for 85% of it. We've got a lot of new potential adventures on the horizon. Big ones...so there was plenty to talk about. Typically that number of 85% of the talking would be my number...but this time, I zipped it and let Matt do the talking. It was good to hear what he had to say about some very important things.

Really good.

I am often so concerned with making my opinions heard, that I neglect to consider what Matt's opinions may be.

I love to hear about what excites Matt...about what he thinks makes his life worth living. Day 18 was a reminder for me to jump on board with those things that matter to Matt.
