My Seventy-Seventh Blog Post Ever...The Love Dare: Day 34

Day 34: Find a specific, recent example when your spouse demonstrated Christian character in a noticeable way. Verbally commend them for this at some point today.

Words of affirmation.
Number two on my personal list of "The Five Love Languages."
In case you are wondering...gifts is my number one love language.

I enjoy giving gifts.
And I especially enjoy receiving gifts.

However, words of affirmation...not a shabby second.

This means I give out a lot of affirming words.
(It also means I NEED a lot of affirming words).

In my household, we're pretty heavy on the praise.

When Brooke learns something new, IT IS THE MOST AMAZING THING WE'VE EVER SEEN IN OUR ENTIRE LIVES!!!!!!!!!!

When Matt comes home with exciting news, IT IS THE MOST EXCITING NEWS WE'VE EVER HEARD IN OUR ENTIRE LIVES!!!!!!!

When I've written an off the charts blog post, IT IS THE BEST BLOG POST EVER WRITTEN IN THE HISTORY OF TIME...and the world wide web!!!!!!!!!!

If you are familiar with my blog at all, then you know that I'm pretty quick to criticize Matt. It is a flaw in myself that I am aware of and improving on as the days and years pass.

However, I am also very quick to praise my husband.
Ask him.

"Matt...you just took out the trash? THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! YOU ARE THE BEST HUSBAND EVER!!!"

"Matt...you took Brooke to ballet even though it's your day off? BABE...YOU ARE SO AWESOME!!!! I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR MAKING MY DAY!!!"

"Matt...you put gas in my car when I wasn't expecting it? YOU ARE SO WONDERFUL!!!! I JUST LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!"

Matt...you just led our family in a devotion, prayed over our daughter and me, helped that lady push her car out of the middle of the road, and was kind to that guy who was a total jerk to you.

Um. Yeah. Thanks.

I don't know why these acts don't get the same type of praise from me as the others do.
Matt is a "Christian" man...shouldn't I just expect him to act in a "Christian" fashion? Because when he doesn't he sure hears about it from this "Christian" woman...

In many ways, Matt actually reminds me of Jesus.

One day I'll share how that statement actually saved my life.

But for now, I think I'll go kiss my man and thank him for loving me...

even when I am unlovable.

Just like my Jesus.
